The building combines references to a significant local landmark and the building language of the marae. Exposed rafters and coloured clerestory glazing underline the generous sense of space. Flexible planning allows a variety of uses, creating a focal point for the community.
A collaborative process inspired this fast-track, multi-million dollar new school in Ruatoria. Architects and builders worked closely together on this project with multiple constraints including short timeframes, a remote rural site, complex coordination of services and intense construction involvement.
